Success Stories

Claire Rogers
Claire RogersOwner of Frisky Business Palm Springs Cat Cafe
Throughout Claire's diverse and extensive career, she has worn many hats, including being a former model, a former director at a prominent American Fortune 500 company, a mindset coach, a motivational speaker, a mental health advocate, and a proud business owner at www.itopiacoaching.com. Despite the variety in her professional journey, there has always been a yearning to merge her deep affection for animals, especially cats, with a fulfilling occupation. Claire's passion for animals knows no bounds, and her travels have taken her to over 70 countries, several of which she has called home. During her adventures, Claire dedicated her time to feeding and rescuing cats in places like Turkey, Greece, Japan, Bermuda, Jordan, Laos, Thailand, Indonesia, and more. Moreover, she been a steadfast supporter of the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) for over two decades. Mary Bullock, a counselor at the Coachella Valley Women's Business Center, has proven to be an invaluable asset to me and my business. Without my knowledge, she proactively showed a keen interest in both me and my venture. Recognizing that my cat cafe could benefit from a financial boost, she took the initiative to reach out, introduce herself, and, over the span of a few months, provided me with several grant opportunities that she believed would be advantageous for my business. As a result, I subsequently applied for and received two grants, one from NGLCC GrubHub and another from the State of California Department of Rehabilitation. These grants have played a pivotal role in fostering the growth and expansion of my business. I am immensely grateful to Mary and wholeheartedly endorse the Coachella Valley Women's Business Center.
America Ochoa
America OchoaLegal Document Asssitant/Owner of America's Legal Document Services
America's Legal Document Services started in 2019 when she was pregnant with her second daughter and stopped working at a local law firm. America already had her notary public commission and her registration with the county as a legal document assistant. She began working on building the operations of her business by putting into writing the steps to establish herself and goals to attain to be a legitimate business. The seed to start her own business started when she was working at legal aid in Indio. She saw the need for affordable and basic legal services for working class people. Especially for Spanish speaking residents of the Coachella Valley. America slowly began the process of obtaining her notary commission, legal document assistant registration, and fingerprint roller certification. And now she is able to provide notary public services, live scan services, and legal document preparation services. CVWBC helped America target her ideal client, focus on which services she was best able to provide, how to better market, and have a roadmap on how to grow her business. Having a business plan which she was able to create while in the "It's Your Time" program really helped her take her business to the next level.
Shelli LoCicero
Shelli LoCiceroPreschool Teacher of Ms. Lo’s Learning Center
After working with children for over 20 years in several different settings, Shelli's dream of owning her own preschool has come to fruition. She is so excited to offer a home-based preschool that will have a warm, home-like environment while providing education through play, academics and social friendships. Shelli loves the structure and routine that preschool provides, versus a standard daycare setting. One of the most rewarding things about being a teacher is seeing the child’s face light up as they learn a new skill. Being able to have an impact on children’s lives, being surrounded by so much love and igniting that spark inside of them as they reach new milestones is truly such a fulfillment. CVWBC helped Shelli overcome so many obstacles. CVWBC helped her with the business side of things such as marketing, finances, social media and creating a business plan. Preparing for and creating growth for her business by preparing her to apply for a business grant.
